Today I have to attend a meeting on behalf of our local child care association in Minneapolis. Jessie and Brad will be here with the kids from 1:00 until pick up time.
Today we are making snowmen for an art project. We went on an O hunt and looked for words that started with the letter O. We played outside in the snow and we are loving the warmer weather! The fresh air is doing the kids a world of good!

Today we celebrated Karsten's birthday! He turned 3 over the weekend so we baked cupcakes and Karsten got to pick our games and songs at circle time. We made pine trees and painted snow on them to hang on our bulletin board. We continue our snow theme this week and we got to play outside in the snow for nearly an hour today!
It's pajama day today! Everyone is all warm and cozy in their pj's and we are using our imaginations to come up with some new stories to tell at circle time today. We made mittens and read The Three Little Kittens book. When the kids wake up from nap time today their mittens will be hidden and they will have to find them before they can have their snack. They are very excited about that!
Monday we will be celebrating Karsten's birthday! Today we decorated snowflakes and snowmen. We painted with watercolors and made fruit loop bracelets for snack. We learned some new songs at circle time and read our brand new Lola book that came with our curriculum this month.
Today we talked about octagons and colored some octagons and searched the house for some but they are kind of hard to find. We made 50 snowballs out of coffee filters and had a big snowball fight inside! We did a page out of our workbooks and painted with water colors.
We are hoping to go outside tomorrow so make sure to bring snowpants! Reminder *** Friday is pajama day, make sure to wear your PJ's! Today we continued our snow and ice theme by painting giant snowflakes with glittery glue. Jessie led the kids in circle time today while I scraped glitter off the floor and table (love that stuff! <~note the sarcasm). We brought in some fresh snow from outside and used food coloring to change the color of the snow.
I have posted the menu for the week so you can check that out when you have time. Today we switched over our curriculum to our new theme and new letter! We are looking for O words this week and this letter has proved to be a bit more tricky than our last letter. Our theme this week is super fun, all about snow and ice! What a perfect week for it too starting out with a snow day. We were able to talk a little bit about where snow come from. We made snowflake winter art projects to hang on the bulleting board and finished a couple of pages in our workbooks.
Happy Friday everyone! We continue our wheels theme with some good old fashioned red light green light. We made cut out car puppets and turned our play area into a roadway. We also made up our own special vehicle and did a page out of our workbooks. The kids are very excited about the snow so we will be playing with that after snack today. We are making edible cars today for snack.
Drive careful, the roads look awful! Our wheels theme continues and today we made car books. We thought of some words to describe cars and the kids were full of great words! Since we are working on number 12 this month we searched around for items that we had 12 of. We were able to count 12 legos, 12 blocks, 12 tissues, 12 papers and 12 books.
I posted a new newsletter in the newsletter section of the website. All our upcoming special days are listed there so check them out when you get a chance! It's a quiet day today with only four children here. We made beetle cars today with paper plates and candy cups. We are talking about the color blue this month and we painted blue moons to hang from the ceiling. We made up a silly version of "wheels on the bus" and went on a blue hunt to see how many blue things we could find. There's a lot!
Jessie was out today. Her mom became ill and is in the hospital and may be having surgery today. Keep her in your prayers and I will let you know if she will be in the rest of the week when I hear more news. |
