I have posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time.
Friday we will be celebrating Cinco De Mayo!
Today we are finishing up our art theme by making our own materpieces using different types of materials. We talked about texture today and some of the words used to describe texture (bumpy, soft, smooth, rough) and felt some of the things around the house to see what texture they were. We did a page in our workbooks and did a little baking on this gloomy, cloudy day.

Today we are continuing our art theme by making yarn paintings. We also learned a new color song at circle time and talked about what happens when we mix colors together. We used our counting fuzzies to count to 18 and then we used them to do a color hokey pokey game.
Today we are having bike day! The kids are very excited to ride bikes =) Today we finished up our April workbooks so those are ready to go home. We colored balloons to finish up our up up and away theme and now we are jumping ahead to our *The World Of Art* theme. Today we started out by making paint palettes and talking about the different colors. We got to spend lots of time out in the sunshine today!
Tomorrow we will be having bike day so long as the rain stays away. Your child may bring a bike and a helmet or they can use one of our bikes. Today we continue our up up and away theme by making airplanes and having airplane races. We also spent some time outside pretending to be airplanes and flying all over the backyard. We did a page in our workbooks and introduced the letter W. We went on a letter W hunt together and found a few W words.
Friday is still going to be a bike day so long as the weather holds out. I will keep you posted as we get closer to the day. Today we finally had the whole crew together again! The kids were so happy to see each other it was a struggle to keep them focused on the curriculum today. We had one final art project left in our spring theme that we finished up, spring books and then we started in on our new theme *up up and away*. We made spaceship pictures to hang on our bulletin board. We also did a page in our workbooks.
I have updated the menu so you can look at that anytime. We are hoping to have a bike day on Friday so long as the weather holds out. I will keep you updated as we get closer to the day. Your child may bring a bike and a helmet or they can ride the bikes we have here. Things sure have been busy around here so I am sorry once again about not keeping up with the blog. I am thrilled to announce that our kitchen and bathroom remodel is 100% complete! Thank you for your patience during that long process. This is such a better set up for both me and the kids and I am thankful it's over.
We are finishing up our jump into spring theme and with our small group today we collected all the things birds would use to build a nest. Sticks, grass, and we used mud to try to make a nest of our own. It's not as easy as we thought! We looked at some of the different nests the animals have built in the backyard to get an idea of how they are made. We have set up all of our new things, our chalkboard, the new chairs and our new book rack so the kids are having fun breaking in all the new stuff. What a beautiful day today! The kids enjoyed the sunshine and we spent lots of time outside. We made edible chick nests with marshmallow peeps, chocolate eggs, graham cracker crusts and edible Easter grass. It was very hard for the kids to keep their nests in their lockers all day without eating them! We also did an enrichment sheet where we practiced our cutting skills.
Construction update: All the plumbing, electrical and framing work has been done now so the rest should move quickly. I am told that by Monday, we will have our bathroom back and the kitchen should be done by mid week next week. Thank you for your patience during this process. Today we made flower art to hang on our bulletin board. We talked about how flowers start as seeds and what flowers need to grow. Our neighbors have gardens full of tulips so the kids got to see some flowers sticking out of the ground today. We got lots of time outside in the sunshine today and the kids went on a spring nature hunt looking for signs of spring. We saw leaf buds, green grass, dandelions and Robin birds.
Today we started our new theme, "Jump Into Spring". We made chicks in a nest and switched our letter over to the letter V. We played an april math game called Raindrop Road. We started talking about the changes that happen in spring, how the leaf buds form on the trees and how many baby animals are born in the spring. We played outside but boy was it cold! It sure didn't feel very spring like today!
Oh my goodness I have not updated this in a week and I am so sorry. The construction is taking up every free minute I have had so thank you for your patience during this time. Last week was our spring break beach week and we did a ton of fun beach activities. Today we are celebrating Easter and the Easter bunny came and hid a bunch of eggs in the sandbox during nap time! We decorated Easter buckets and dyed Easter eggs.
