It's a quiet day at Jen's house. We are doing some baking and will have some pumpkin bars to go home. We finished the turkeys we started yesterday and talked about all the things we are thankful for in circle time.

It's our annual Thanksgiving celebration! The kids are so excited to make our Thanksgiving dinner. Each child is responsible for making and bringing one dish to our feast. We also made turkeys in art and pilgrim hat cookies for snack.
We have a house full of sleepy heads today so we're taking things a little easy. We are baking some banana bread and snuggling up with books. We used yellow, red and brown to make a dark orange color to paint pumpkin pies for our bulletin board this week. The kids are searching for our Turkey Toms who are hiding all over the house!
The menu is posted for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. Due to low turnout on Wednesday with families heading home for the holiday, we will be having our Thanksgiving celebration in daycare on Tuesday. ***Reminder - We are closed both Thursday and Friday this week for Thanksgiving. Today we stuffed our Turkey Toms and they are now ready to hide. We have a poem that we learned to go with it...
Turkey Tom doesn't like Thanksgiving He do not want to be eaten So he shakes and shivers and hides Until Thanksgiving Day goes by. A little morbid but the kids love it. :-) We got our 5 little turkeys colored for our 5 little turkeys puppets. Since we have a house full of little ones not feeling the greatest we stayed inside today and brought some snow in to play with. As we gear up for Thanksgiving, we're talking about some holiday traditions. One popular one, of course, is eating turkey! We made Turkey Toms in art and each day until Thanksgiving, Turkey Tom will be hiding from the kids so we can't eat him. We brought some snow inside to play with today since it's still a little too cold to go out.
It's a quiet day today so we're having some laid back fun! We used the milk cartons that Mrs. Wilson was kind enough to bring for us to make ships with sails. The kids were so excited! We got a big tub of water and experimented with all sorts of different ways to make wind to push the boats across the water. We learned how big ships would rely on the wind and sails to get from one continent to another just like the Mayflower before motors were invented.
Today we're continuing to learn all about the Mayflower. We learned some fun facts and read our Pete the Cat Thanksgiving book before nap. We put the finishing touches on our Mayflower projects in art and as soon as they're dry we will hang them on our bulletin board. We also made some new dough for our sensory bin using flour and baby oil. The kids had fun playing with that!
It's another inside day with the freezing temps. The kids are already a little stir crazy so we're praying for a warm up soon! Today we're starting our Thanksgiving theme which will go through Thanksgiving next week. We read a story about the Mayflower voyage and made Mayflower boats to hang on our bulletin board in art. With the freezing temps, we stayed inside today.
I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. We're baking pumpkin bars today and will be having them for snack. We've got some to send home with the kids too so don't leave without them! We played our candy corn counting game which can also go home today. We will be going outside after nap when it warms up a bit.
Yay for PJ day!!! For some reason the kids just seem happier in their PJs and I always love it too. We're having an inside day today and snuggling up with books. We baked banana bread and chocolate chip muffins. We worked on our counting today with a candy corn counting activity and colored farm pictures in art. We're talking about the different machines farmers use to harvest their crops.
