Today we made teddy bear puppets and we are putting on a puppet show! The kids were responsible for coming up with a name and history for their puppets. They have such great imaginations! We also did some work in our workbooks and went on a letter R hunt. There are lots of things that start with the letter R at Jen's house!

Happy 1st birthday Lydia! Today we celebrated our Lydia's first birthday and baked cupcakes and had a party. We blew up balloons and Brad came down and played games with the kids for most of the morning while I got to snuggle the babies. We colored with stencils, played puzzles and playdough and practiced our sign language alphabet. The kids are getting good at it!
We actually knew four people (well...three people and one dog) who were celebrating birthdays yesterday and it was so funny to listen to the kids try to convince me that we should all eat four cupcakes, one for each birthday. They sounded like little lawyers carefully arguing their case and giving all the reasons they could come up with. It made my day! We are still working on our Teddy Bear theme which the kids have been really excited about. We made bookmarks with teddy bear stickers and we used white paint and the kids' fingerprints to make polar bear footprints on the bookmarks. We brought a little snow inside and tried making different footprints in the snow. We looked at the bottom of Daisy's feet to see what her footprints look like (she loved being the center of attention) and tried making a footprint in the snow with her paw but she didn't want to have anything to do with that.
Today we are having our Teddy Bear Picnic! The kids were very excited to have a picnic lunch with the stuffed friends they brought from home. We also laced up some paper teddy bears and stuffed them with cotton balls. We finally took our tent down today and played our Hungry, Hungry Hippo game with the tennis balls.
Today we tried taking the tent down but the kids all had a meltdown so we compromised and left it up another day. We practiced our sign language alphabet and went on a letter R hunt. We found lots of R words! We did some work in our workbooks and played a new hungry hippo game with tennis balls.
What a fun day! We're camping today and we used teamwork to build our tent. The kids have been in there almost all day. We also made a s'mores snack mix and a pretend campfire to tell stories around. The kids made up there own stories to share and they have such great imaginations!
Today we switched the curriculum over to our new theme; teddy bears! We made teddy bear masks and finished up with the letter Q so we could switch over to the letter R. There are not very many Q words at Jen's house but the kids sure looked hard!
Tomorrow is camping day. Your child can bring a sleeping bag if he/she has one but it is not required. We will be putting the tent up and making s'mores snack mix! Friday we are having a Teddy Bear Picnic so your child may bring a teddy bear or any other stuffed animal to have lunch with. Today we had a very quiet day but we had some visitors! Jessie's kids that she nannies for were here so the kids had a great time playing with new friends. We celebrated Presidents Day by making patriotic wind socks. The menu is up for the week so you can check that out anytime.
Today we finished up one last Valentines project we had in our curriculum pack and made heart collages using different types of material for the hearts. We talked about the different textures and colors. We also got to play outside today for a while and the kids really slept good after getting some fresh air. We also used tooth brushes, white paint and pretended upside down egg cartons were alligator teeth. We practiced our brushing skills.
The kids are having such a good time playing together today. I have had trouble pulling them away from their games and free play to work on our curriculum and do circle time. They have such fun imaginations that I'm enjoying watching them quietly giggling to myself and the "puppies" play fetch and learn new tricks. They were also Power Rangers for a while and "fire guys" who were saving the world. I just love them to pieces!
Today we are discussing the importance of good dental hygiene. We made a mouth with foam teeth and floss for an art project and practiced flossing our own teeth with real floss. We are also introducing some new sign language words. My training on Monday was a sign language class (ASL) and I brought home about 150 new words to introduce. We are working on the alphabet and some basic words and teaching the children how to use the alphabet to spell their names. |
