Today we're finishing up our *Off to China* theme! We finished the dragons we started yesterday in art and tried writing our names and some of the letters using Chinese calligraphy. We had some extended music time this morning and snuggled up with some books before bed. The kids had fun with the play dough and puzzles.

Today we're having fun with dragons! We made dragon puppets in art and read a Chinese folk tale about a dragon that the kids loved. We learned a new dragon game that the kids played for a while and we got to spend some time outside in the morning. We baked muffins for breakfast this morning.
Today was all about Pandas! We learned some fun facts about them in circle time like where they live and what they eat. We made Pandas in art and read a Chinese folk tale about a panda. We also got to spend some time outside in the morning.
Today we learned some fun facts about China in circle time. We read a Chinese folk tale and used red and white paint to make pink, which we then used to paint bonsai trees. We found China on our map and learned a little bit about how different life is for kids in China than here in the United States.
We're off to China today! We will be learning all about China and we started today by using water color paints to make Chinese paper fans. We learned some very interesting facts about China and read a Chinese folk tale in circle time. We had beef lo mien for lunch, which the kids were not too sure about!
I have the menu posted for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. We had a super busy week and actually got outside quite a bit! How nice it was to get fresh air on a daily basis again! The kids have been a little wild and crazy this week. I think the fresh air gave them some extra energy instead of helping them burn it! We were working on our snow theme which has become a favorite. We made peanut butter cookies and apple bread this week. We made had our Frozen party on Tuesday and used coffee filters to make snowballs for an indoor snowball fight. We made sleds using candy bars and candy canes. We finished a couple projects from last week and the kids have been enjoying some freestyle art.
We're off to China next week! If any parents have been lucky enough to travel to China and have brought something back your child would like to share with the group, let me know! It's a quiet day at Jen's house so we're taking advantage of it and doing some baking. We baked apple bread and put some finishing touches on some projects we started last week. We painted with water color paints in art and snuggled up with books before bed.
I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. We're really loving the milder temps as it gives us the chance to get outdoors! We used the colored cubes we made yesterday to paint coffee filters and brought some snow inside to play with as well. We baked some more muffins and Addie brought some of her toys downstairs for the kids to play with which was an extra special treat, especially for our girls!
What a fun day! We finally got to get outside and play in the snow! We're learning about how water turns into ice and experimented with water and food coloring to see if it would freeze outside. It did not so we knew it was warm enough to spend time outdoors. We did another project to go with our snow theme and used ivory soap and ripped tissue paper to make snow for our sensory bin. The kids were so shocked to see the bar of soap grow into a cloud in the microwave. Their surprised faces were so cute!
Today we're playing catch up after our crazy day yesterday. We finished our snow man art projects we painted on Monday and made ice skating rinks in art today. We baked chocolate chip muffins and snuggled up with books. The kids are obsessed with our new play dough so we had that out for a while.
