The kids sure missed each other after the long weekend. They were all happy to see each other and have been playing really well together. We did a 'diamond' worksheet today and started our growing flower art projects. We will reviewing letters y and z this week before going into a more in depth review of all the letters this summer. They are all very excited to celebrate Ty's birthday this I have updated the newsletter and the menu for the week.

Well the rain held out long enough for us to go play outside and do our nature scavenger hunt! We weren't out long though before the rain started so we headed inside and decided to do some baking. We baked cupcakes for Addie's birthday party this afternoon and then baked some banana bread.
We are gone the next two days so we will see you all on Tuesday, when we will celebrate Tylers We have had a busy day so far today. We are trying to cram the whole weeks worth of curriculum into 3 days so it has been go go go all week. Today we finished our mushrooms in moss art projects and talked about where mushrooms grow. We are going to be peeking around the yard this afternoon on a mushroom hunt. The kids made nature sachels which I think look like purses....he he. We are hoping the rain goes away and the sun comes out this afternoon so we can spend the rest of the day outside!
I updated and posted the menu for the week. Tomorrow we will have all of our buds and blossoms on the tree and the snowflakes can finally go home! We switched our curriculum over today but we are still trying to finish up some loose ends from last weeks theme. We did our Z words today and did the letter Z worksheet. The kids did a maze and started a moss and mushroom art project. I am working on the menu for the week so that should be up sometime today.
Reminder that this is a short week this week. We will be gone Thursday and Friday and then again on Monday for Memorial Day. It has been a very laid back, fun day today. The kids played hide and seek with their animals, danced and we only got to play outside for a little while before the rain started. We had our teddy bear picnic inside and the kids seemed content with that. We will try to do it again later this summer so we can have it outside!
We started the letter Z today! The kids are very proud that they now know all their letters, and I am proud of them too! If it is still raining this afternoon we will be doing some baking upstairs. Today we finished our wildflower paintings and finished up with the letter Y. We got seeds re-planted and watered our strawberries. One of the plants already has a couple of little strawberries on it and one of them is just starting to turn a little pink. Our apple tree has really blossomed up over the past week and we have been talking about the buds, blossoms and how we will soon see little apples on the trees
Today we noticed that our naughty squirrels tore apart our planters and stole our seeds! So we will be starting our vegetable plants all over again and this time they will stay inside until they are big enough to transplant into the garden.
I switched around the menu a bit today and we had spaghetti today and will be having italian dunkers tomorrow. We painted our meadow pictures today and made popcicles. The kids have been running outside and digging for gold most of the morning and they all slept like rocks today. Since I didn't post yesterday.....we made a plant art project that is now hanging on our bulletin board and we did a planting work What a beautiful day today! It was a little chilly this morning but the kids warmed right up after running around a little bit. We started planting our strawberries today but ran out of dirt for the planters so we will finish those up tomorrow. We got the plants that will get strawberries right away and some of them even had little strawberries coming out and blossoms so I was able to show the kids the blossoms and explain how that little blossom will turn into a strawberry. The kids will be helping me keep our strawberry beds watered and weed free and when the time comes we will pick them and make strawberry shortcake. We did a worksheet today but the kids were really not interested so I didn't do anythings else with the curriculum. They just wanted to be outside soaking up the sun and I was not about to argue =)
I am watching the weather and hoping to have a Teddy Bear picnic on Friday if the weather is nice enough. Your child can bring any stuffed animal from home and we will have a lunch picnic outside. Keep an eye out for ticks! It is that time of year again and being so close to the woods, we are more prone to ticks than a normal city daycare. I just give my kids a quick look over at bathtime to make sure that one The new menu is up for the week. Reminder - We are closed Thursday and Friday of next week and again on Memorial day. The kids have had a very laid back day today. We played outside and did a worksheet. We baked brownies for snack and to take home. We did our Y words today and recited the alphabet so the kids could see how far we have come this year. Once we finish the alphbet we will spend the rest of the summer going through it a few letters at a time to recap what we learned. I am excited to see how much they remember. We didn't make huge progress on our sight words this year and I didn't want to add more until they had the first 5 down. This is an important p
I am getting this up really late but I figured better late than never. Brad was with the kids all day and they all had a blast. They were outside for the majority of the day. Brad took them out in the morning because the forecast called for rain. Well the rain didn't show up so they just played and played. He brought them back in for lunch and then woke them up right at 3 to go back out and do the planting. They planted corn, tomatos, pepers and green beans. We are going to be getting some strawberry plants once we get the garden tilled so the kids can pick strawberries if we can keep the deer and birds away long enough.
Thank you all for your support, prayers and well wishes for my dad. It was a very long day but he was awake and cracking jokes by 8:30 last night. It was such a relief to hear it went well. |
