Today is Addie's birthday so the kids helped me put some party supplies together. We discovered a Robin bird in our bird nest again this year! The kids were so excited they went on a worn hunt to find food for the new babies when they hatch.

Brad took the day off today to work on some outside projects and he had lots of helpers and spectators. The kids watched him till the garden and learned why that was important before planting seeds. They helped him collect rocks and found weeds for him to pull in the yard. Brad found a frog and the kids built it a home and took turns holding it. Even our girls gave it a try!
Today we're playing with the color purple! We used red and blue paint to make purple and then used petal shapes to paint purple flowers in art. We talked about some of the things we like that are purple. We collected all the purple flowers we could find in the backyard.
The mosquitos have been really awful this week. In addition to sunblock, to protect your child they must wear bug spray. I use the Off Skintastic brand. If you prefer I not use this, please bring the kind you would like me to use on your child. It's wet and sticky outside and the bugs are AWFUL so we hung out inside in the morning. We started birds in art that we will finish up later this week. We played a Mommy and baby animal game that came with our curriculum and practiced the number 19 with a worksheet and our counting fuzzies.
I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. The kids are so excited to see one another today! We're trying to finish up our pet theme by mid week so we're working to squeeze as much as possible in the next couple days. We made turtles and snakes in art today and talked about what kinds of foods people have to feed their pet snakes in circle time.
I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. ***REMINDER*** We are closed Friday. This is an unpaid vacation day. We are also closed Memorial which is a paid holiday. It's a quiet day today with only a few friends in attendance. We did some baking and played outside. We talked about all the responsibilities that come with pet ownership and how some pets are more work than others.
Jen is gone today so Brad is holding down the fort! The kids are very excited and have been counting down the days. Brad introduced the letter Y to the kids today. They did a letter Y maze and practiced cutting and matching on a separate project. They got to spend lots of time outside in the beautiful weather!
We're puppies today! The kids made and decorated collars in art and we're learning all sorts of new tricks. In circle time we talked about some of the very important jobs pets like dogs sometimes have. We tried teaching Daisy a new trick but she didn't want to cooperate.
We're putting our chef hats on today and baking banana bread! We started a new theme today, "Pet Friends" and the kids are super excited about it. We made happy hamsters in art and talked about all the different kinds of pets people have in circle time.
Reminder*** I will be gone most of the day on Thursday the 15th. Brad will be here at drop off in the morning. He's got lots of fun things planned and the kids are very excited! Today we played catch up a bit. A couple of our little ones had Mother's Day gifts to finish and once they were done with that we had a couple stray projects from March we finished off. We made baby chick puppets in art and made puzzles to take home.
We didn't get to go outside today since it was rainy and wet. The kids all seemed quite tired today. Everyone fell asleep right away and had to be woken up after nap. I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. |
