We're learning all about the moon today! We have "moon dust" in our sensory bin and are using rocks to make craters in the moon dust. We learned how the moon got so many craters. We did a rocket ship worksheet tracing the different shapes.

We finished up our warm and fuzzy theme but discussed at circle time the importance of always trying our best to give our friends have family the warm and fuzzies.
We introduced our new theme this week, Into the Starry Night. We will be learning all about the stars and the moon and the night time sky. We made starry skies in art today to hang on our bulletin board. The menu is posted for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. Today we had another fun day baking! We picked fresh apples off our apple tree, peeled them, chopped them up and used them to make apple bread for snack. We got to spend lots of time outside today and practiced using our kind words to make our friends smile.
It's our super fun restaurant day! The kids have looked forward to this more than any other day on our calendar this month so they were super wired from the second they arrived. Each child got to serve one of their friends and be served by another. They each had to fulfill the jobs we learned about yesterday and be a host, a waiter, a busboy/girl, and a cashier. We used our play money and they had to take orders with a tablet and write up a bill. They practiced using their good manners both when serving and being served.
We also used this as one of those teachable moments. They weren't too thrilled clearing someone else's plate so we used this as a great opportunity to reinforce the importance of getting a good education and going to college so they could do the job they WANT to do, and not have to settle for a job they didn't like one day. We read a book about college before bed today and talked about what we wanted to be when we grow up. We're getting ready for our restaurant day! We decided in circle time we would have pizza restaurant and learned about all the different jobs that go into running a pizza restaurant. We learned how each person is trained to do a special job and if they one of them doesn't complete his or her work, the restaurant doesn't run smoothly. Each of the kids made their menus in art today that we will use tomorrow.
Today we are using our color blue to paint with string in art. We are incorporating good manners into our warm and fuzzy theme and spent some time during circle time discussing and practicing good manners. We introduced the letter C today.
We finished up our on the road theme last week and started a new theme today, *Warm Fuzzies*. We are learning about kindness and friendship and the importance of being respectful to others. We practiced saying kind things to one another in circle time and talked about how it gives us the warm fuzzies when people are kind to us.
The kids made a card for mom and dad in art today so they can spread the warm fuzzies at home too! Fridays have been quiet for us lately so we've been taking advantage of these quiet days and doing some baking together! Today we baked about 12 dozen chocolate chip cookies (by request) so we have cookies to go home. We also did some work in our workbooks while they were baking and spent some time outside.
It's PJ Day today!
Our color this month is blue so we're finding the blue all around us today. We found so many blue things around our play space and outside. We painted blue flowers in art and used our counting fuzzies to play a counting game in circle time. Today we're talking about the letter B. We went on a letter B scavenger hunt that included both inside and outside items. We got to spend some time outside and did a connect the dots in art.
