It's a super quiet day here today so we're spending lots of time snuggling up and reading books. We played a couple indoor games to keep the kids moving and did some organizing and cleaning of our toy box, rotating some new toys in. We're going to be updating our playroom soon so we started making some of those changes today!

Reminder*** We are closed all week next week. Thank you for making alternate care arrangements for your children so our family can spend some time together! We will see you Monday, June 22nd! Today we're saying goodbye to another friend as he graduates from our program. It's always sad to say goodbye but we know this kid is going to do great in kindergarten next year! We baked cupcakes to decorate for snack and wrapped up some presents for our special guy. We also finished up our fathers day gifts to send home since we are gone next week.
We're learning about grasshoppers today! We painted clothespins green to make grasshoppers in art today. We got to spend lots of time outside and the kids were using buckets of water to make a grasshopper trap to catch one. It's fun to watch them brainstorm ideas to solve a problem! We rotated some of our books and toys for summer so the kids were excited with the new selections.
We have a surprise guest visitor today! One of our past graduates is here to play for the day and the kids are over the top excited about it! It's super hot so we're getting making frequent trips inside to cool down. We got to have a picnic lunch outside and used some of our donated water bottles to make bug habitats and the kids were scavenging the yard looking for different ones to find. We got a new insect inspection kit the kids are using to inspect the bugs to see if they are insects or arachnids.
The kids are so excited now that our Robin eggs have hatched and the can regularly see the babies popping their heads above the nest. There has been many questions about what baby Robin birds eat and why they can't fly yet so we've been doing a little research. The kids are extra excited that the mama Robin used the straw we left out to build her nest! Today we're celebrating the graduation of one of our special friends from our program. This is always a bittersweet day as we look back and see how much they've grown since they first came and send them off with lots of love and kisses.
We're also learning the difference between insects, bugs and spiders. We finished painting the spiders we started on Friday in art today. We also started some special projects for Dad! I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. ***Reminder*** We are closed next week! |
