We are making Santa puppets in art today! We also put together a cookie plan in circle today. We will have Peanut Butter Balls, Sugar Cookies, Peaunut Butter Kiss Cookies, Christmas Tree Pretzels and Salted Nut Chews on our cookie trays this year and they will be sent home on December 21st after Santa comes. These trays are pretty big so plan to take them to your holiday gatherings! The kids always love to hear how good their cookies are!
We will be starting cookies tomorrow morning and will be baking every day until Christmas. There will also be sampling every day by your little ones so I apologize in advance for them being "sugared up". We went over proper hand washing and food safety Today we finished decorating our Christmas tree. We talked about how there are farms that grow Christmas trees and they trim them and cut them down when they are ready for Christmas. They use the trimmings for wreaths and other decorations so we used the paper trimming from our Christmas tree art projects yesterday to make wreaths on a door in art. We also baked banana bread today for breakfast tomorrow morning.
We are starting our new Christmas theme today! This theme will take us all the way through Christmas and we have a very busy two weeks. The kids were also very excited to have all this snow! We kicked off our new theme by making snow covered Christmas trees to hang on our bulletin board. We also got our Christmas tree set up and made our stockings to hang on the tree.
Today we are talking about our sense of taste! We listed off some sweet, sour, salty and spicy things that we have tried before. We made baked apples for lunch which were both sweet and a little sour. We also baked m&m cookies for snack today.
Today we are talking about our sense of touch. We are experimenting will all sorts of things warm and cold, soft and hard, smooth and rough. We played a game where we used our sense of touch to guess what was hidden in a box.. We used our words to describe what we were feeling. We played a five senses game where we had to match the senses. We made cold snow balls in art and used them to have a snow ball fight indoors since we couldn't go outside today with the rain.
Today we were Santa's little helpers. We made elf ear headbands in art and when we put on our elf ears, we become super helpers! We do nice things for other people and use nice words and are helpful to Mom and Dad, Jen and Jessie.
The kids decided that they were reindeer ears though and spent some time pretending to be Rudolph pulling Santa's sleigh. We also baked pumpking bars and spent some looking for all the white things in our play area. White is the color we are working on right now. Today we are talking about our sense of sight. We are making binoculars in art and using them to play I Spy. We are using a blindfold to see how hard it would be to live without our sense of sight. A very unhappy Daisy is playing the seeing eye dog as we learn about how people who can not see use special dogs to help them throughout the day.
Today we finished up our letter i and went on a letter i hunt. We switched our calendar over to December and looked talked about all the fun things we had coming up this month. We are starting our December curriculum and the first theme is My Five Senses. We are making sensory books in art today.
Today is an exciting day for our older kids. We are doing some construction upstairs and the older ones got to go upstairs and watch Brad and my dad tear down part of a wall! We got to bake home made bread today and took turns kneading the dough. We made geese flying in the clouds in art today and learned a new Little Geese song. We talked about how geese and many other birds fly south for the winter and watched some of our geese flying south when we played outside. We tried to guess which state on our map they were flying to.
