We got a head start on our peanut butter blossom cookies today. We baked over 100 and will be baking another couple hundred tomorrow. We made star tree toppers in art and read lots of books since it's a quiet day today. We will be working on our special gifts later this afternoon.

Today we finished up our chocolate covered pretzels. We counted up how many cookies we've made so far and we're at 550! We tried working on our special gifts but the white acrylic paint I bought turned out to be clear gloss so back to the store I go tonight. =)
We used the jingle bells we made in art yesterday to sing some Christmas songs together. We're playing catch up and finishing up some projects from last week today. We baked chocolate chip muffins for breakfast and made silver bells in art to take home. Our silver bell project has small jingle bells on it so please make sure to keep it out of reach of the extra little ones as it's a choking hazard.
We will be paining with acrylic paints again tomorrow so please send your child in clothes suitable for painting. I have the menu posted for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. ***Please Note: Santa will be coming on Monday, December 22, a week from today. Cookie trays will go home this day as well so if you're saving them for Christmas day make room in your freezer. We are knee deep in our cookie production this week so we have been incredibly busy. We have now made hundreds of cookies and chocolate covered pretzels. Each one of the kids guessed how many cookies we would make and we're counting each cookie this year so the kids are getting lots of practice counting to 24 since we're baking two batches at a time. We've made a few more ornaments for our tree and we've been working on our secret special surprises for Mom and Dad!
We are still trying to get outside every chance we get so continue to bring your child's warm weather clothes. They are super sad if they aren't able to join us outdoors and they could all use the fresh air. Our theme the rest of this month is going to be *It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas*! We're decorating our tree with home made ornaments and today we used marshmallows and popsicle sticks to make snowflake ornaments to hang on our tree. We also made some cinnamon bread from scratch which we will have for breakfast tomorrow morning. The kids got to spend some time outside in the snow today.
I've got the menu posted for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time today. ***Please check your calendars and make sure your child will be here on Tuesday December 23rd. That's the day we have Santa scheduled to visit but if we are missing some families we could possibly reschedule for the 22nd. We finally get to go outside! The kids have been stuck inside with the cold temps and it was so nice to finally get them out in the fresh air! We made Christmas stockings in art and a little elf will be putting a surprise in them while they nap =)
We practiced writing the letter H today and went on a letter H hunt. One of our friends starts with the letter H! The kids have decided that we don't have enough PJ days so next Tuesday we will have an unplanned PJ day! Today we finished our Christmas wreaths and we sorted beads by color into egg cartons. We used red and white beads to make candy cane ornaments in art. The kids have been really excited about reading so we've been taking extra time to read lots of books. We read over 30 today!
Tomorrow we will be going outside! Please make sure you child has snow pants, boots winter coat, hat, mittens and a full spare change of clothes, including socks in case they get wet. It's a quiet day with some of our little ones home sick so we're taking advantage of this quiet day and doing some extra snuggling. We baked apple bread to have for breakfast tomorrow morning. Having the warm oven on seems to help keep the kids warm on these extra cold days. We made star ornaments for our Christmas tree out of popsicle sticks and painted them with gold glitter in art.
Our little ones are dropping like flies with various illnesses! With all the sick bugs here today we're reinforcing our proper hand washing techniques and are trying extra hard to cover our coughs. We're doing some extra snuggling today and baking banana bread. We started our handprint wreaths in art and got the last of our Thanksgiving art pulled together to go home.
Now that Thanksgiving is under our belt we're getting ready for Christmas! We're having our tree decorating party today and listening to Christmas music. We used various sparkly things to make Christmas trees in art to hang on our bulletin board.
We're celebrating a birthday today so we decorated cupcakes for snack! We switched our calendar over to December and talked about some of the fun days we have coming up this month in circle time. I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time today. |
