Today we made leaf pictures with white finger paint for wind and pretty colored fall leaves. We went on a leaf hunt in the backyard where we found all different colors of leaves. We played *There's a Leaf On My Head* game which was very silly.

Today we are talking about the changes that happen with the different seasons. Now that it's fall we're looking at our surroundings and seeing what changes we can spot. We see leaves falling from the trees and the colors of the leaves changing. We can feel the temperature drop and see acorns burried in our sandbox from the squirrels. We did an enrichment sheet today and we made leaf rakes in art.
***Reminder*** We are closing early on Thursday November 1st (1:00PM) and we will be closed Friday the 2nd of November - Friday the 9th of November. We will open again on Monday November 12th. Thank you for finding other arrangements for your children during this time. We are talking about our earth still today and we are focusing on rocks and mountains. We are making rock candy as a science experiment and going on a rock hunt in the backyard. We are polishing rocks and making pet rocks with them.
Today we made fall leaf battons with streamers in art. We also had an old friend visiting today so the kids had fun playing with him. We spent lots of time outside today and did a page in our workbooks.
We are still working on our Beautiful Earth theme this week. We talked about the different parts of our earth, the land, the water and the mountains. We focused on the different types of water and talked about the differences between the ocean, lakes, rivers and streams. We made streams to hang on our bulletin boards this week. This afternoon we will be using water to make streams in our sandbox so I'm sorry in advance for the mess your children may be when you pick them up!
The menu for the week is posted and you can look at that when you have time. Today we played catch up with our curriculum a bit and did a few of the projects that we hadn't gotten done earlier in the month. We Did a couple of pages in our workbooks and practiced our scissor skills on an animal homes worksheet. We got to spend some time outside and baked banana bread for breakfast.
Today we used circle cups and paint to make circle paintings. We played our *pick up the trash* game some more (it's very popular!) and spent lots of time outside. We went through our sandbox and yard looking for litter and learned what a litter bug is. We decided that we are going to try harder not to be litter bugs because most of what we found in the backyard was our afternoon snack cups.
No school today so we had an old friend come visit today! The kids were very excited to see Tyler and hear all about his new adventures at school. We recycled some old milk cartons and used them to make bird feeders to feed our birds. We also learned a new game called *pick up the garbage* and spent a lot of time playing that.
Today we talked about recycling and the different ways we can recycle. We found various things that we were going to throw away, some scraps from our art project yesterday, some old yarn, some balled up tin foil and a milk cap and used them to paint a picture. We used our color of the month red to make recycled works of art. We finally got to spend a good amount of time outside before bed and the kids were exhausted by the time we made it inside for lunch.
Today we started a two week theme called *Our Beautiful Earth*. We will be discussing recycling, and also learning about the changes in our earth from season to season around the world. Today we used food coloring and eye droppers to make beautiful earths to hang on our bulletin board. We also started to learn about recycling and some of the ways we can recycle. We didn't get a chance to go outside in the rainy weather but we did some dancing and played some games indoors.
I have posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. |
