Have a safe and happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! We're having our big Halloween party today. We made masks for our parade in art. We also made spider webs with spooky spiders in them. We played games for prizes and the kids practiced their trick or treat etiquette. We read a halloween book at circle time and decorated cookies at snack.

We made pumpkin pictures in art today using real pumpkin seeds. We talked about how pumpkins grow on vines and what treats can be made out of pumpkin. We are picking all the corn kernels off the decorative corn we picked out at the pumpkin patch and putting it in a sensory bucket.
Our time outside is becoming shorter as the days get colder. It's extra important to remember hat, mittens, warm coats and warm clothes for underneath. Please also check your child's locker and make sure their spare change of clothing is warm and fits properly. Today we used magnifying glasses to inspect all the different leaves we found outside yesterday. We introduced the letter E and went on a letter E hunt finding all the things that start with the letter E. We painted our pumpkins today in art.
It's PJ day and the kids are all cozy in their PJ's!
We are still playing catch up trying to tie up all the loose ends and do all the projects from our previous two themes. Today we talked about mailmen and how mail gets from one place to another. The kids make a letter for mom and dad and mail bags to deliver their letters with. We collected leaves outside for a project later this week. The menu is up for the week so you can check that out any time. This is probably going to be one of the last real nice days so please make sure your child has plenty of warm clothes when they come. Make sure they have hats, mittens, coats and once the snow starts, make sure to pack snow pants and boots as well. Today we did some catch up on our curriculum. One of the themes this month was Unique Art but since all the projects seemed so similar (using unconventional things to make art) I didn't want to spend much time on that. The kids made two paintings today, one using dental floss and one using a toothbrush. We got to spend lots of time outside and soaked up the sun.
Today we went to the pumpkin patch! The kids got to see all the animals and we picked out pumpkins, gourds, corn and little hay bales. We also got some fresh apples for breakfast tomorrow morning!
We're using peanut butter and pretzel sticks to build log houses today and we're talking about harvest and preparing for winter. Today we are learning about triangles! We did a triangle enrichment sheet and look all around our play area for any triangles we could find. We baked banana bread and got to spend some time outside today. Remember to make sure you kids have hat, mittens and warm coats. It looks like the warm days are behind us.
Today we did a fireman worksheet and built a pretend firetruck out of our chairs and blankets. We finished up the letter D today and will be moving on to the letter E later this week. We talked about all the fun days we have coming up on our calendar and learned a new fireman song at circle time.
It's a quiet Monday after a long weekend. We're playing catch up with our curriculum. We're making police badges in art today and finishing up our neighborhood theme. We did an enrichment sheet and talked about our fun days coming up on our calendar.
I posted the menu so you can check that out when you have time and I finally got a fall newsletter up. Make sure to check out the fun days we have planned. I will post reminders if your children will be Today we had fun inside since it was too yucky to play outdoors. We are still talking firefighters and today we talked about four legged firefighters. We made dalmatians in art and learned how they use their super strong sniffers to help find people who might be lost in a building that's on fire. We also baked and decorated cupcakes for snack.
