We are filling water balloons today and will be playing with those this afternoon.
It's bike day today and the kids are so excited to ride bikes in the driveway! I have never seen them eat breakfast so fast. We spent lots of time outside today and we finished our goodbye book for Robbie. Today is Robbie's last day and we are so sad to see him go. He will be moving to Iowa tomorrow but his mom has promised to bring him to visit when she comes to town.

Today we had a very relaxing day. The kids had very little interest in anything other than playing outside so we did one worksheet and worked on a goodbye book we are making for Robbie and then we spent the rest of the day playing. We played hide and seek and played outside. The kids are really taking an interest in the fruit plants outside. They are very excited each day to see how many strawberries we have growing and to see if the apples on the apple tree have started to turn red. They like collecting the ones that have fallen to the ground and filling up buckets with them. Pretty soon, the deer will be out there snacking on then and the kids can't wait for that to happen!
I didn't realize that we were out of eggs so I served cereal The kids are having a fun day today and you can tell they missed each other last week while I was gone. I have switched the curriculum over to the new week and am going to try to squeeze both last week and this week into the next four days. Today we made oranges to hang on our bulletin board and we did a worksheet on the color purple. We played outside and we are hoping for clear skies this afternoon so we can play outside some more!
Since we only had one preschool age child for most of the last week I decided to put Pirate Week on hold. We will be making up for that the week of July 11th through the 15th. I have updated the menu for the week. We are gone Friday and won't be open again until Wednesday July 6th. As the weather creeps up into the 80's and 90's, we will be bringing out the sprinkler and water balloons to keep the kids cool. It would be helpful to either leave an extra swimming suit here or keep one in their bag for them to throw on during these water days. If you do leave a suit here I will make sure it gets washed after Today we made fruit loop necklaces and talked some more about ice cream and other dairy products. We made ice cream cone art projects and the kids put sprinkles and fake syrup on their big cones. We also did an ice cream cone coloring sheet. We went on a letter B hunt today and found a bunch of words that start with the letter b. Some of the kids have had a little trouble mixing up the B sound with the P sound so this is an area where we will keep practicing the difference in those sounds.
Just a reminder that we are here next week and gone the entire following week. We will be sending home Fathers day art projects and having a going away party for Robbie nex We sure had fun today! We threw Karsten his big brother baby shower and decorated cookies with frosting. The kids played outside and we worked on the letters A and B. We did a worksheet on the four letters we are working on this week and made a mouse eating cheese art project. I changed a couple of things on todays menu. We were out of tater tots so I served baked french fries instead and I didn't realize I had oranges down two days in a row for lu
We have had an exciting day here today....Karsten is a new big brother!!! He was very excited to tell us and I can not WAIT to meet that little girl! We will be throwing Karsten his new big brother baby shower tomorrow afternoon and decorating a big cookie.
Today we finally got the curriculum switched over to the new month and the new week. We are reviewing letters A - D this week. We Did a maze coloring sheet and did a cow art project. We are learning all about dairy this week and will be making ice cream sundaes on Monday! After a super busy day yesterday along with the heat we decided to take it a bit slower today. We played outside for less than an hour and used the bags we made yesterday to find things a bird might use to build a nest. Some of the things the kids came back with in their bags made me laugh....sand, rocks bigger than most birds, sand toys....it was very cute! We sorted through the things they brought back and will be using those things to try to build a real birds nest tomorrow. We filled close to 100 water balloons and will be taking them outside after nap today. The kids are so excited about that!
The heat really seems to be getting to them so I am trying to remind them often to take drinks of water and if they start looking too hot this afternoon, even with the water balloons and sprinkler I will bring them in to cool What a busy day!! It has been go go go here all day long. We finished up our last letter z project, made bird nests to hang on the bulletin board, put our June calendar up and did a number 19 worksheet. We played outside and started our outdoor collection bags which we will use tomorrow to collect things that birds might use to build a nest. We started switching our curriculum over today to the new week but probably won't get that done until tomorrow because we are celebrating Robbie's birthday today! He turned one yesterday.
Wow, I am updating this really late! So sorry about that. We got a lot done today! We baked banana bread for breakfast and finished our dragonfly art project. We made up a dragonfly story to go with them, ask your kids to tell you the story. We finished our leaf buds and blossoms and they are finally hanging on our tree now. They are very cute =) We played outside for a long time today so the kids should be nice and tired for you tonight.
Yesterday we started our dragonfly art project and we finished our growing flower project. Those are hanging up on the bulletin board for you to see. We have picked a grand total of 4 strawberries off our plants now and there are a bunch more growing. The kids are very excited to check on them everyday and they still are so surpised every time we see a new one growing or one of the existing ones start turing red. |
