Reminder*** Pajama day is Friday! The kids can wear their jammies and bring a favorite blankie or stuffed animal. I'm hoping I can get my lobster PJ's on over my brace, if not I will figure something out!
Today we made "corny pumpkins" using paper plates and popcorn seeds. We spent a while outside this morning and Jessie led circle time today which the kids were very excited about. She knows some songs that Jen doesn't know that she learned at the child care center she worked at and the kids love hearing the new songs.

Today we started talking about Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for. The kids made Thankful Trees and listed some of the things they are thankful for. We are so blessed with the group we have, they all have such big hearts and the lists of things they were thankful for went on and on. We are also continuing our discussion on geese and pretended we were geese today and made a v formation and flew through the house.
Friday is pajama day! The kids can come in their pajamas and bring a favorite blankie or teddy Today we took it kind of easy. We have quite a few little ones who are coming down with colds and didn't spend a whole lot of time outside because of it. They were all very tired today so we did lots of indoor activities like playdough, dancing, games and coloring. Hopefully they are able to get plenty of rest this weekend and are back to normal on Monday.
Today Brad and Jessie are running the show. The kids can here me from time to time as I sit upstairs here today and it breaks my heart I can't go down and play with them. I will be having my cast removed this afternoon and a brace put on at which point I will be able to move up and down the stairs a little better. Hopefully by tomorrow I should be in the daycare for most of the day reading books, rocking babies and helping with circle time. I feel good and not nearly as sore as I expected so long as my leg is propped up so I think I can be a big help in the daycare as soon as I get that brace. Jessie and Brad will still be doing most of the work and one of them will be here at all times until I am back on both feet.
I goofed up on the menu this week and had mini corn dogs on for both tuesday and today so I switched today to Chilcken nuggets. Jessie led the kids in circle time and made wishing couches for an art project and spent some time outdoors! We were able to get our Goose Moon book out today which is the book we use to usher in the thanksgiving season. We always wait until we hear the geese outside before we bring it out and they have been flying by in huge flocks. We try to count them as they fly by but there are times there are hundreds of them! Today we did lots of singing and dancing indoors since it was yucky outside. We had an extra long circle time and colored with stencils. We switched the letters on the board to G and made day and night mobliles. My surgery is today and Brad and Jessie worked well to keep the kids busy in my absence.
Today we finally got a chance to decorate our Halloween haunted house! We ran out of time yesterday and the kids were not happy about it. We also finished our October workbooks and did lots of singing and dancing. The kids are all suffering from a little Halloween hangover today and are quite tired so we are taking it a bit easy today.
Tomorrow is my surgery. I will most likely not be here much at all tomorrow. Brad will be here in the mornings and will be serving the kids breakfast each morning and taking care of things until Jessie comes. Both Brad and Jessie will be here for most of the time and at least one of them will be here at all times until I am able to do it all on my own again. If you have any questions, please let me know. I plan to be in the daycare as much as possible this week but I don't know how much that will be until I see how things go. By next week I am expecting to be in the daycare almost all day but will not be able to do a whole lot. I will keep you all posted on my progress. I'm so sorry I have not been keeping up on this blog. Now that we are caught up after closing up the cabin for the year I should be able to do a better job.
Today was Halloween!!! The kids were so excited and so wired. We baked and decorated cupcakes for snack. We made masks and had a halloween parade. We played games and practiced using our good trick or treating manners. We also talked briefly about safety. Just a reminder, my knee surgery is Wednesday and Brad and Jessie will be doing all the leg work in the daycare the next couple of weeks. I will be here, just not doing the physical aspects of the job. Let me know if you have any questions. |
