We introduced the letter Q today and made Q is for Queen pictures in art. We also made teddy bear headbands and learned a couple new teddy bear rhymes in circle time. We baked some muffins together and read some new teddy bear stories before nap.
We're doing some work with our shape of the month today, the heart! We made heart pictures in art today and also made some teddy bear bookmarks. We introduced our final theme for February today, *Teddy Bear Games* and will be having a teddy bear picnic on Thursday. Your child may bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animal from home that day or they can use one of ours here.
We've been learning about keeping our teeth healthy and white this month and with the strong emphasis here at childcare, the kids may be a little extra interested in brushing and flossing at home. I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. ***Reminder, we are closed the week of February 29 - March 4. Thank you for making alternate arrangements for your children's care during this time. I want to thank you all for you patience over the last few weeks as I've fallen behind on this website due to the unexpected order for a union election amongst licensed family child care providers. Please see the note in your child's locker for more detail on this.
We've been busy learning about the letters O and now P. We had lots of valentine fun and as part of our discussions about love and kindness, we took the opportunity to practice being good friends and taking care of one another. We've been sorting through our toy bins trying to choose which toys we want to keep, and which ones we would like to donate to other children who may not have many toys, so we can clear the playroom out for renovations. The kids have lots of questions about what it will be like and surprisingly, some seem to be a little nervous about this change. Of course they will all be happy with it once it's done! We are learning about keeping our teeth clean this month, our shape is a heart and our color is pink! Once again, I want to thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I'm catching up this weekend and things should be back to normal on Monday. The kids are full of energy today so we're playing some active games this morning to burn off some of it. We are trying to get through the rest of our January curriculum the first couple days of the week. We brought in some snow and ice from outside and learned how icicles are formed. We made snow and ice collages in art and wrapped up the letter N and the number 11 today.
I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. |
