Today we are talking about what animals and bugs do in the winter time when it gets cold. We looked at pictures of different animals to see what kinds of coats they had to keep them warm. We made "ladybugs under cover" at art time. We are still playing catch up after vacation and with Thanksgiving break we are a bit behind as well so this week we will be extra busy finishing our November curriculum.

Today we finished our workbooks for the month of November so those can go home. We got to hear how everyone celebrated Thanksgiving at circle time. We finished up some of our thanksgiving projects that were left from last week.
Today we had a quiet day with only a few friends in daycare today. We got to enjoy lots of sunshine with the beautiful weather. We made thanksgiving placemats and did a couple enrichment sheets in art today.
We are celebrating thanksgiving today with our turkey dinner celebration. Each child is in charge of making one item to bring to our feast. We also finished our thankful turkeys to hang on the bulletin board and finished our turkey centerpieces which can go home today. We made yummy pilgrim hat cookies and made some extra to send home to share with mom and dad.
Today we are starting our Thanksgiving celebration week! We started our thankful turkeys using our handprints at art time. We finalized our Thanksgiving menu and talked about the first thanksgiving. We talked a little about how hard it was for people back then when they had to live off the land with no grocery stores and how thankful they were to have a good harvest. We listed off things that we are thankful for to add to our thankful turkeys. We started our turkey centerpieces as well.
We had a quiet day today so we did some cooking together. We made a big batch of home made chicken noodle soup just the way the Stone Soup was made by everyone adding one ingredient at a time. We also baked some banana bread for breakfast. We started planning our Thanksgiving meal menu and hauled out some of our Thanksgiving books. Each year we bring out our Goose Moon book which is a tradition when we start hearing flocks of geese outside when we play. My cousin illistrated that book and he used his family as the subjects so it's neat for the kids to see his face and his childrens face in the book and then see real pictures of them so they can see that they are real people.
Today we made scarecrows for our bulletin board. We talked about what farmers use them for and we took turns pretending to be birds and scarecrows. We played our Stone Soup Bingo game again today since it was a big hit. We got lots of time outside today.
Today we practiced writing the letter G and went on a letter G hunt. We also read the book Stone Soup today and made stone soup story art projects. We played stone soup Bingo and got to spend over an hour outside today!
I have updated the menu and the blog. So sorry I fell behind! Today we introduced the letter G. We switched our calendar over for the month and learned of some of the fun days we have planned in November. Our theme the first part of this week is *Bookworms On The Go*. We are talking about how fun reading is and our favorite stories and all the things people read such as books, magazines, newspapers and street signs. We made book necklaces today in art and learned a new *I can read* song at circle time.
We are back from vacation today but not ready to let the beach go quite yet so we are having a beach party! We have our beach balls that we are playing games with and we are making beach ball treats with rice krispy treats and frosting. We got our beach towels out to read stories on and looked through lots of different shells that we brought back from Florida. We thought of all the words we could use to describe the shells, soft, smooth, bumpy, shiny. We also practiced doing the hula dance!
