We're saying goodbye to March today and learning more about the changing season. We're inside today since it's raining again but we're learning how the rain helps the plants grow. We made spring wreaths in art today and spent some time looking out the sliding door and window for signs of spring. We learned a little bit about how trees sleep in the winter and wake up in the spring. The kids are still really excited about the birds collecting material for their nests, although with the rain they have seen less of the birds today. They are especially excited about a bright red cardinal they keep spotting in and around the play center! We keep watching to see if any of the birds choose our bird house for their nest but so far, no luck.

It's a rainy day today so we're having fun indoors. We baked four loaves of banana bread! We are learning about spring and focused today on how birds build nests, where they can keep their eggs warm until they hatch. We made nests in art and watched birds outside collecting pieces of grass to build their nests with.
We played some active games indoors to burn some energy. We're finishing up our Easter celebration today since we weren't able to get to a lot of it yesterday. We decorated eggs in art and made carrots to entice the Easter bunny into coming and leaving us some Easter eggs while the kids napped. It worked! The kids were super excited to wake up and find Easter eggs all over the sandbox! We decorated cupcakes for snack and spent lots of time outside today.
We're celebrating Easter today, but the kids are having a hard time so we had to postpone some of our Easter fun. The kids were all excited to share about their time with Grandpas, Grandmas, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins over the holiday weekend! We baked cupcakes, that we'll decorate and have for snack tomorrow. We finished up the letter T and introduced our last theme for March, *Bunches of Bunnies*!
I've posted the menu for the week so you can have a look at that when you have time. ***I've also posted the spring 2016 newsletter so please take some time to look through that. All our closings for the year and some fun, special days are listed there for your convenience. We're having a birthday party today! The kids are so excited to celebrate with Aiden and were very helpful baking and decorating cupcakes and wrapping gifts to surprise him with. We also talked a little bit about Easter Sunday and made bunny headbands in art.
It's a very quiet day today! We're buried in snow and only a few were able to make it here. We're taking some time today to organize and the kids are playing puzzles, play dough and stencils while I disinfect everything I can since we've had so much sickness come through the last two weeks. We baked some cookies and read lots of books and watched as the snow melted throughout the day.
Today we introduced the letter T! We made T is for train pictures in art and went on a letter T hunt. We worked a little bit on letter recognition and did some recap in circle time. We made some cinnamon bread and spent some time outside in the morning. We're bracing for the big snow storm and enjoying the green grass while we can!
We introduced the oval today, which is our shape for the month of March. We made oval pictures in art and also did a healthy eating worksheet. We were stuck inside all morning due to the rain so we did some group dancing and played some active games in circle time.
We're continuing our healthy eating theme and we're learning about different types of fruit today. We will be sampling a fresh fruit plate for snack today and we made silly fruit puppets in art. We learned some of the benefits that come from eating fruit and why it's one of the very important food groups. We talked a little about how fruits grow in circle time and everyone shared what their favorite fruit is.
