We will be having our Thanksgiving celebration next Wednesday. If you're child will not be attending, please let me know. Each child makes a special treat to bring to our feast. Today we introduced the letter H. We practiced writing the letter H and went on a letter H hunt to find all the things that start with H. We started our thanksgiving theme today as well and made cornucopia weavings in art.
Today we are talking about patterns. We made abstract circle art using patterns and made patterns using our blocks and puzzle pieces. We got to spend some time outside this morning and did some group exercises in circle time.
We're finishing up our music theme today and talking about the different styles of music. We're listening to country, rock and roll, hip hop and classical and talking about the differences between the different types. We're also listening very carefully to see if we can hear any of the specific instruments we've talked about over the last couple weeks. We made dancing props in art today and found different types of containers to use as drums with our songs.
I've posted the menu for the week so you can check that out whenever you have time. What a beautiful day! We got to spend lots of time outside getting some much needed fresh air today. We are still working on our music theme and made shakers in art which we used to play along with our songs in circle time. We also did a connect the dots rectangle worksheet (rectangle is our shape this month) and we played a ducky counting game.
Today we focused on how musicians read music. We brought out some music books and showed the kids how each note makes a different sound and shows the musician which buttons to push or strings to pluck. We made music note necklaces in art and we also used red, yellow and blue, the primary colors to make brown which is our color this month. We painted with the brown paint we made using spatulas.
