Today we are learning about the rain. We painted umbrellas and got to see the rain coming down a few times today. We talked about how important the rain is and how it helps the plants grow. We sang our rain songs (rain rain go away and singing in the rain) and learned how rain comes from the clouds.
It's Tyler's birthday today and he is turning 6! We are having a birthday party for him and he brought cupcakes to share with his friends.

Today Addie turned 4! We baked and decorated cupcakes and had a birthday party. We talked about the sun and the clouds today. We made happy suns and the kids learned about how sunshine is good for us but if we don't wear sunblock we can get a sun burn.
Welcome back from the long weekend! We are talking about weather this week! We focused on wind today and made kite pictures to hang on our bulletin board. We spent some time outside today and the wind was blowing. We talked about how powerful the wind can be and reminded the kids how the wind blew our neighborrs tree down last year. We made wind by fanning our foam puzzle pieces and we tried knocking down various things with the wind we made.
Today we had a small group so we had a pretty laid back day. We used pom poms to make dandelion paintings and learned some fun facts about dandelions. We learned how the seeds are spread in the wind when we use them to make wishes. We also made a game using cups and yellow cotton balls where we try to catch the "bees" in the cups.
Today we made flowers and bees mobiles to hang on the wall. We are still talking about bees but are now talking about flowers as well since the two go hand in hand together. We noticed today that the grass we planted in our cups is starting to grow! By next week we will be ready to cut it. We learned a new bee song at circle time and spent a couple hours outside.
We are still talking all about bees and today we made totally tubular bee buzzers. We learned a new beehive song. We learned about how bees make honey in a honeycomb. We spent lots of time outside in the sunshine.
We were scheduled to have farm week last week and didn't get around to it. We are rescheduling that to next week. Reminder*** We are closed this Friday and again on Memorial Day Monday. We started a new theme today, *Dandy-lions and Busy Bees*. We made bumblebees for our bulletin board. We talked about how bees are very helpful as they carry pollen from one plant to another so we can have more pretty flowers. We pretended to be bees outside and buzzed from one tree to another. We also talked about why bees sting and how we can prevent bee stings.
Today we finished up our All Grown Up theme. We played talked about how things change as we grow older and we become interested in different things and may even like different food. The kids each listed their favorite foods, colors and games and we guessed what our favorite things would be when we grow up. I told them what my favorite things were when I was young and what they are now.
We did a couple pages in our workbooks and practiced writing the letter Z. We played a name game where we rolled the ball and had to call out the friends name they were rolling it to. We spent lots of time in the sunshine today. Today we are making crazy cut kid art projects. We are drawing pictures of ourselves on cups and then planting grass seeds in the cups. When the grass grows, it will look like crazy green hair and the kids can give their kids a haircut! They are excited about this one!
We are hoping to be able to spend some time outside today but everytime we check on the weather it starts sprinkling again. ****Reminder, we are closed next Friday (May 25th) and Memorial Day Monday (May 28th). We finished our personal journals today and did another page in our workbooks. We introduced the letter Z today which will conclude our alphabet for the year. From here til september we will do review and then in September, we will start again from letter A.
We made shining stars today where the kids were supposed to draw self portraits on the star since they are all shining stars. =) |
